Ask Me Math Team

Lukuz

I am a mechanical engineering student at UBC. Throughout highschool I viewed maths as many of my peers did, something to dread and avoid. As I transitioned to university I started to view maths differently, I now really enjoy understanding maths and find it quite satisfying and appreciable. I hope to help students to see that maths is easy to understand if you just change your perspective and look at it the right way. Aside from studies and spending time with family and friends, I work on fuel efficient vehicles on an engineering design team, play hockey, speedcube and workout. All of which I find a lot of joy in!

Louise

I am a UBC student majoring in electrical engineering. Math has always been one of my favourite subjects at school. I hope to make it enjoyable for other students. I believe that anyone can be great at math. Other than math, I love music, video games and spending time with my friends.

Math has always been one of my favorite subjects and teaching has always been a passion of mine. I always feel great knowing that I can share my knowledge to benefit others and it’s also a great way to reinforce my own knowledge. Thus it should come as no surprise that being a math tutor was the perfect opportunity for me. When I’m not teaching, I spend my time either playing games, reading, or simply looking into anything I happen to be interested in!

Abhishek

I am a mathematics graduate student at UBC. I am passionate about teaching mathematics at all levels. As the great mathematician George Polya once said “If you can’t solve a problem, then there is an easier problem you can solve: find it.”

So fear not if you don’t know something, with time and patience you will.

Other than math, my hobbies include running, playing (video)games, and learning about computers.

Nick

I am a fourth year student at UBC pursuing a double major in biology and psychology. Math has always been both an interest and strength of mine throughout my schooling (although you would have never gotten me to admit that in high school). I believe that learning math doesn’t have to be a bad experience and hope to teach students not just how to solve specific math problems, but how to apply these skills to the rest of their schooling. Besides tutoring I love playing pretty much any instrument, going out into nature, and spending time with my friends and family!
